The ESP32 CYD started as a single-purpose SD card flasher. Now it becomes a multi-app survival device: a home screen with six apps, a file browser for SD cards, a text editor for notes, an image viewer, and a compressed survival reference guide — all on a $7 board with 520 KB of RAM and no external memory.
